We will have our three properties open, for visits and tours of the Drumm House, Historical Society Museum, and the James Burk’s Inn, as well as the Colonial Cemetery.

Opening for the Season

Join us as we kick off our 2026 season. Explore exhibits across both the Drumm House and the Historical Museum, each offering a unique look into our community’s past. While you’re here, take a peaceful walk through our Colonial Cemetery, the resting place of several prominent local figures and stories waiting to be discovered.

Explore local records and online tools as we guide both new and seasoned researchers in uncovering their ancestors and the stories they left behind.

Activities and events include a reading of the Declaration of Independence followed by a reading of the Declaration of Sentiments, music, presentations on a number of topics through the lens of not only the patriots but also the loyalists, women in the revolution, and the Haudenosaunee people of this area. We also have a storyteller, David Nielson, performing stories about John Andre. Many historic buildings connected to the American Revolution will be open for tours. and so much more!

We are working with the Fulton County Historian, City of Johnstown, and the Committee for Tourism and Special Events as well as a number of other not for profit organizations such as the Johnstown Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Masons of St. Patrick’s Lodge.

In the morning, step into the debut of the Women in Early America Exhibit. View restored home items, clothing, and samplers crafted by women and children, all preserved by DAR descendants. You might find a connection to families from the area.

In the afternoon, explore the role of early kitchen gardens. Discover how Native and European plants offered food, remedies, and drinks to the people who lived and traveled through this early American tavern. Enjoy a lively talk and plant demonstration from yesterday and today
